Christ Church Cambridge
Prayer List

Remember to pray for the victims of all the natural disasters throughout the world. Our service personnel wherever they are stationed. The sick, grieving, and shut-ins or our parish and community. The men and women working for peace throughout the world.

Diocesan Collect: Gracious God, through the movement of your Holy Spirit, strengthen us here at Christ Church and in the Diocese of Easton, as an inviting and welcoming people; receive our worship, nurture our life in Christ, that we may evermore faithfully serve all your people, both near and far; this we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Peace:

For peace in every country
For the victims of violence everywhere
For those struggling for peace and justice
For churches in conflict situations
For a world without war and violence

Lead me from death to life,
from falsehood to truth,
Lead me from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Lead me from hate to love,
from war to peace,
Let peace fill our beings,
our world and our universe. Amen.

A Prayer For Our Country: Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly ask that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do your will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought here out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in your Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to your law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in you to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer For Maryland

Blow, Lord, they clean winds
upon the shores and shoals of Maryland.
Blow gentle breeze of blessing across the earth,
atop her stalwart hills,
and over the greening fields.
Blow, Holy Spirit, the freshness of liberty
through the hearts of Thy people
whose domain is named for a queen
yet worships the King who is the Father of us all.

So may Thy children catch upon their hopes
The breath of glory which Thou dost send to fill
the spangled sky, the lofty sails of ships,
and faithful lives of men and women.

Fulfill then, O God, the promise once borne
upon the wings of a dove of a land
of peace and companionship,
and courage enough to follow after Thee;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

The Very Rev. Francis B. Sayre, Jr.,
Former dean of Washington National Cathedral
From the bulletin of the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter & Saint Paul
