Altar Guild

The Altar Guild acknowledges with great sorrow the deaths of Larry Hepner and Joan Holton. They were dedicated to the work of the Altar Guild and to Christ Church. They will be missed.

The Altar Guild is a group of dedicated women and men preparing the Lord's Table for worship, not only for the weekly services, but also for holiday services, baptisms, weddings, funerals, and any special services. In addition to preparing the altar, flowers must be ordered for the service and dispersed with after the service, the brass and silver must be polished, the linens laundered, the Sacristy cleaned, and many other tasks that may be needed. They wish nothing in return but the pleasure of preparing the Lord's Table.

The members of the five rotating teams are: Team 1 - Leah Gore, Captain, Patricia Allen, Carolina Stewart, Elaine Hicks, Carol Lacy, Carole Steele, Bonnie McCall, Jo Ann Wright; Team 2 - Karma Mader, Captain, Carolyn Morris, Kathleen Wise, Susan Todd, Valerie Nwakudo, Grace Akers; Team 3 - Ginger Brooks, Captain, Jackie Jones-Benjamin, Janet Lawrence, Peggy Kuehne, Charles Kuehne, Phyllis Ralph; Team 4 - Sis Givans, Captain, Sue Rickert, Ellie Butehorn, Gina Jenkins, Nancy Harper, Barbara Hale; Team 5 - Jean Holts, Captain, Gloria Warner, Suzanne Slear, Lene Robbins, Melanie Merryweather, Susan Lazur, Susan Wehr.

Other members assigned special tasks are: Joanna Tilghman - decorating the altar for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter; Gloria Warner - flower coordinator; Peggy Kuehne - treasurer; Nancy Harper, Jean Holtz, and Susan Wehr - laundering and maintaining the alter linens; Leah Gore - ordering Altar bread and candles.

We would like to express a special "thank you" to all of Christ Episcopal Church Altar Guild members. We sincerely appreciate all you do.

The Guild welcomed new members to Team 1 - Bonnie McCall and Jo Ann Wright and to Team 5 - Susan Lazur and Susan Wehr.

We are fortunate to have so many who give generously of their time and talents. The Guild is also responsible for ordering the linens, altar hangings, vestments, etc. The source of income comes from Christmas and Easter flowers, donations, weddings, and special gifts.

Memorials are set up when special gifts are presented to the Altar Guild. This year the Nativity linens, which are only used for Christmas, were purchased with the monies received in honor of Larry Hepner's birthday. Another memorial willbe purchased with the monies received after his passing.

The Altar Guild is open to all women and men of the congregation who are interested in preparing God's house for worship. It is a very important ministry6 and we invite all interested persons to join us in this satisfying and rewarding ministry. For more information, please call Gloria Warner, Peggy Kuehne, or the church office.
